Welcome to the Toronto Field Naturalists Website
Founded in 1923, the Toronto Field Naturalists is a charitable,
non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the study of
natural history and the preservation of our natural heritage.
Anyone interested in nature study or advocating the protection of plants, animals, habitats or landforms is urged to become a member.
Membership in the Toronto Field Naturalists provides the following:
- TORONTO FIELD NATURALIST our newsletter, contains announcements of all TFN activities and those of many similar organizations, as well as members' observations and artwork relating to natural history, conservation, and information about environmental issues and projects. Eight issues per year are mailed to members.
- More than 100 guided walks take place during the year to areas throughout Toronto. All these are accessible by public transit. Whatever your interest in nature - trees, wildflowers, birds, geology, insects, mushrooms, or nature arts, you'll find many outings to interest you. Families are welcome on all outings, but please, NO PETS.
- MEETINGS are held in Emmanuel College, 75 Queen's Park Crescent East, opposite the Royal Ontario Museum. See the map. Eight meetings a year take place at 2:30 p.m. on the Sunday after Labour Day in September and the first Sunday in the month from October to December and February to May.
- NATURE RESERVES
About 400 acres northeast of Uxbridge - forested wetlands purchased by the TFN give members the opportunity to enjoy the properties, and protect valuable habitat.- DISPLAYS AND SLIDE SHOWS illustrating the significance of the natural heritage of Toronto are available on request.
All work is done by volunteers. Members are encouraged to participate by volunteering their skills and time.
Please note: It has always been the policy of the Toronto Field Naturalists not to give out its membership list.
